Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the Portal color ort tet (PCT), a new computer-baed tet of color viion, by comparing it with a erie of clinical tet of color viion in normal and color deficient ubject. Deign Propective clinical laboratory tudy. Method Fifty-nine ubject with normal trichromatic viion or with congenital color viion defect underwent a erie of color viion tet that included the 15-plate Ihihara tet, the D-15 Farnworth-Munell tet (D-15), the Farnworth-Munell 100-Hue tet (FM 100-Hue), and the PCT under rigorou tandardized condition, a recommended by the repective manufacturer. The PCT generate a numerical dicrimination core comparable to the FM 100-Hue. Reult To tet validity, dicrimination core generated by the PCT were compared with core on the FM 100-Hue. The pearman rank correlation between dicrimination core on the FM 100-Hue and the PCT wa 0.8 (P < .001). Reliability wa aeed by aking patient to retake the PCT at a later itting. Patient retaking the PCT achieved imilar core on their econd itting a on the firt. The correlation in the core between the two tet wa 0.7 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.4-0.9, P < .001). Median (quartile) time to complete the PCT wa 3.1 minute. Thi wa fater than the FM 100-Hue time (P < .001), but lower than both the Ihihara and the D-15 (both P < .001). Concluion Thi tudy ugget that the PCT, a tet of color viion deficiency, can be ued effectively and reliably a a tool for creening (comparable to the Ihihara plate and the D-15) and grading (comparable to the FM 100-Hue) color dicrimination ability.
