Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare the preoperative and potoperative meaurement of corneal biomechanical propertie and intraocular preure (IOP) uing Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT), the ocular repone analyzer (ORA), and the Pacal dynamic contour tonometer (PDCT) in eye undergoing myopic laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK).
Deign
Propective, nonrandomized clinical trial.
Method
IOP wa meaured in 66 myopic eye before and after LAIK by GAT, ORA, and PDCT in a randomized equence. Metric of corneal biomechanical propertie (corneal hyterei [CH], corneal reitance factor [CRF], and ocular pule amplitude [OPA]) were recorded.
Reult
After LAIK, there wa a reduction in mean corneal pachymetry of 90.2 μm and in IOP meaurement with GAT (Δ = −1.8 ± 2.8 mm Hg; P < .01), ORA-Goldmann (Δ = −4.6 ± 2.8 mm Hg, P < .01), and ORA–corneal compenated (Δ − 2.1 ± 2.6 mm Hg; P < .05). However, there wa no tatitically ignificant difference between preoperative and potoperative IOP meaurement taken by PDCT (Δ = −0.5 ± 2.6 mm Hg). Potoperatively, CRF decreaed by 28.6% (P < .01), CH by 16.2% (P < .01), and OPA by 1.8% (P = .32).
Concluion
Meaurement of IOP with PDCT appear to be relatively immune to change in corneal biomechanic and pachymetry after LAIK, in comparion to GAT and ORA meaure of IOP. PDCT and ORA both howed tatitically lower variation in meaurement than GAT. LAIK produced a marked decline in CH and CRF, which may reflect repective change in the vicou and elatic qualitie of the pot-LAIK cornea. In contrat, there wa no tatitical change in OPA.
