Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the viual and anatomic outcome of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in eye with nonubfoveal choroidal neovacularization (CNV) aociated with pathologic myopia (PM). Deign Interventional, noncomparative cae erie. Method Ninety-even patient (100 eye) who were treated with PDT at three center and followed up for three to 44 month (mean 16.5 month). Outcome meaure were viual acuity, leion ize, and the occurrence of ubfoveal invaion. Reult Median baeline viual acuity wa 20/40−2 and ranged from 20/20 to 20/160+2. On average, viual acuity wa table throughout follow-up after a modet increae of about 0.5 line between three and ix month. The probability of loing 3 or more line wa 10% to 15% during the econd year. Leion ize (median: 710 micron) lightly decreaed after the firt PDT and tended to increae later, but not to a tatitically ignificant extent compared with baeline. The probability of developing ubfoveal CNV tabilized at 10% in the econd year. The mean number of PDT per individual wa 2.9 in the firt year and 0.6 in the econd. Concluion Viual and anatomic outcome of PDT, in thi large group of patient with nonubfoveal myopic CNV and good viual acuity, ugget that it may halt the progreion of the dieae in mot cae.
