Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the development of a 27-gauge elf-retaining tranconjunctival chandelier endoilluminator for panoramic viewing during vitrectomy.
Deign
New urgical intrument.
Method
The tip of the illuminating fiber i 27-gauge (0.35 mm) and haped like a cone to provide wide-angle illumination. The tip, inerted approximately 3 mm into the vitreou cavity tranconjunctivally, provide diffue illumination. The optical fiber covered by a malleable leeve can be retained in the eyeball without a uture.
Reult
The lim light fiber deign (0.35 mm) tabilize the 27-gauge tip in the eye and provide up to 25 lumen of meaured illumination. The adequate lighting potential and elf-retaining deign allow wide-angle viualization and bimanual manipulation in challenging cae. Eay inertion and removal without uture placement make it convenient to change the poition of the device during urgery and efficiently horten urgical time.
Concluion
Thi uture-free 27-gauge endoillumination chandelier improve the efficacy and efficiency of vitreou urgery.
