Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare the reolution of inflammation and long-term reult of cultivated and conventional limbal tem cell tranplantation (LCT) in a patient with teven-Johnon yndrome (J).
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 32-year-old man with J and bilateral total limbal tem cell deficiency underwent cultivated LCT in the right eye, followed by conventional LCT in the left eye three week later. The potoperative medication included dexamethaone 0.1% and ofloxacin 0.3% eyedrop and a tapering doe of ytemic corticoteroid, cycloporine, and cyclophophamide. Tear ample were collected and analyzed for interleukin (IL) 8 level.
Reult
Complete corneal epithelialization wa achieved 48 hour after cultivated LCT, compared with three week after conventional LCT. Ocular inflammation and IL-8 level decreaed more rapidly in the eye with cultivated LCT. Four year after urgery, more evere corneal carring and opacification were noted in the conventional LCT eye.
Concluion
Cultivated LCT reulted in a better clinical reult and viion, with le tromal carring compared with conventional LCT.
