Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare econd generation frequency-doubling perimetry (FDP) with tandard automated perimetry (AP) to detect glaucomatou viual field abnormalitie.
Deign
Propective, cro-ectional, controlled obervational tudy.
Method
Fifty eye of 50 patient with glaucoma with confirmed AP viual field abnormalitie and 42 eye from 42 normal control ubject were tudied. wedih Interactive Threholding Algorithm (ITA) tandard 24-2 AP and FDP viual field were performed. The correlation of global indice and the number of defect on total deviation (TD) and pattern deviation (PD) plot were compared. The patial concordance of FDP and AP defect location wa determined.
Reult
In patient with glaucoma, ignificant correlation of mean deviation (MD) and pattern tandard deviation (PD) were found between AP and FDP (P < .001 for MD and P < .001 for PD), but not in the normal group. FDP had ignificantly greater defect core than AP on total deviation and PD plot in the glaucoma group (P = .028 and P = .01, repectively). In comparion with AP, enitivity and pecificity of FDP were 92% and 98% with glaucoma hemifield tet criteria and 98% and 93% with PD <5% criteria, repectively. imilarly high diagnotic preciion wa found with MD and PD (at 95% pecificity; MD and PD enitivity wa 82% and 90%, repectively). The location of defect within 12 hemifield cluter found with FDP agreed moderately well with thoe detected with AP (κ = .48).
Concluion
FDP and AP perform imilarly in their ability to detect viual field defect in early to moderate glaucoma. Larger and deeper defect detected with FDP ugget the poibility of earlier detection at high pecificity.
