Cytomegaloviru Retiniti After Fluocinolone Acetonide (Retiert™) Implant

Purpoe To report a cae of cytomegaloviru (CMV) retiniti after placement of a fluocinolone acetonide (Retiert™) implant. Deign Interventional cae report. Method Retropective chart review. Reult A 65-year-old man with a hitory of Adamantiade-Behcet dieae and bilateral recurrent uveiti that wa unreponive to ytemic corticoteroid-paring immunouppreive therapy developed clinical evidence of CMV retiniti after receiving hi econd intravitreal Retiert™ implant in the left eye, while on no ytemic immunouppreion. He did not develop CMV retiniti in the right eye depite multiple intraocular and periocular teroid injection. The patient reponded well to intravitreal focarnet followed by placement of an intravitreal ganciclovir implant. Concluion Ophthalmologit hould be aware of the potential rik for development of CMV retiniti after local ocular immunouppreive therapy.
