Abstract :
Purpoe To decribe the frequencie of and rik factor for ocular complication and poor viual acuity at preentation in a cohort of patient with juvenile idiopathic arthriti (JIA)-aociated uveiti. Deign Cro-ectional tudy. Method etting: ingle-center, academic practice. tudy population: eventy-five patient with JIA-aociated uveiti were evaluated between July 1984 and Augut 2005. obervation procedure: Data on patient diagnoed with JIA-aociated uveiti were entered retropectively into a databae and analyzed. outcome meaure: Viual acuity of 20/50 or wore or 20/200 or wore, and preence of ocular complication (including cataract, poterior ynechiae, band keratopathy, elevated intraocular preure, hypotony, macular edema, and epiretinal membrane) at preentation. Reult At preentation, ocular complication were een in 67% of eye affected by JIA-aociated uveiti. Preence of ≥1* anterior chamber flare, a poitive antinuclear antibody (ANA), and a horter duration between the diagnoi of arthriti and uveiti were ignificantly aociated with the preence of ocular complication. The frequencie of 20/50 or wore and of 20/200 or wore viual acuitie at preentation in affected eye were 36% and 24%, repectively. The preence of ≥1* anterior chamber flare and a hitory of intraocular urgery before preentation were ignificantly aociated with 20/50 or wore and 20/200 or wore viion. Preence of poterior ynechiae alo wa aociated with 20/200 or wore viion at preentation. The main caue of poor viion at preentation for affected eye and better-eeing eye were cataract, band keratopathy within the viual axi, and glaucoma. Concluion Ocular complication and poor viion at preentation were common in our patient with JIA-related uveiti.
