Abstract :
Purpoe
To determine the feaibility of uing a modified femtoecond laer to perform penetrating corneal reection.
Deign
Controlled laboratory tudy.
Method
Fourteen corneocleral rim were mounted on an artificial anterior chamber. Eight underwent traditional penetrating keratoplaty (PKP) and ix underwent “top hat”–haped PKP uing a femtoecond laer. Wound leakage preure and induced atigmatim were compared between the two group.
Reult
Deep corneal reection with the femtoecond laer wa feaible. Wound leakage occurred at 38 ± 11 mm Hg in the traditional PKP eye and at 240 ± 69 mm Hg in the laer-haped PKP group. Initial induced atigmatim wa 3.76 ± 0.82 diopter and 3.46 ± 1.36 diopter in the traditional and haped PKP group, repectively.
Concluion
haped PKP uing the femtoecond laer i feaible and provide uperior inciion integrity compared to traditional PKP. Initial induced atigmatim i dominated by uture effect.
