Abstract
Purpoe
To determine if there i a difference in motility between biointegratable orbital implant and ilicone orbital implant in patient undergoing ocular eviceration.
Deign
A retropective comparative tudy.
Method
We compared motility meauring the excurion of a mark on the conjunctiva at the center of the implant in evicerated patient with ilicone implant and biointegratable implant after ame eviceration technique.
Reult
ilicone implant had 0.5-mm increaed movement in inferior and medial duction compared with biointegratable implant. The later had 0.1 mm of increaed movement compared with ilicone implant in lateral gaze. The greatet difference wa in uperior gaze, in which ilicone implant had 1.5 mm more excurion than biointegratable implant. No ignificant difference wa oberved in horizontal and vertical movement between both group.
Concluion
In our analyi, there doe not eem to be any advantage, in term of motility, in uing biointegratable implant if “pegging” i not planned. Further tudie are required.
