Abstract :
Purpoe
To examine the repeatability of detecting pupillary dilation lag in patient with Horner yndrome.
Deign
Retropective interventional tudy.
Method
etting: ingle referral intitution. patient population: Fifteen patient with unilateral Horner yndrome and 16 ubject with phyiologic aniocoria. intervention procedure: Each ubject underwent four pupillometric recording in darkne. The aymmetry of pupillodilation between the two eye wa calculated a the change in aniocoria between five econd and 15 econd in darkne. Pupillary dilation lag wa conidered preent if the aymmetry meaured ≥0.4 mm. main outcome meaure: Aymmetry of pupillodilation over four determination.
Reult
All ubject demontrated fluctuation in the calculated aymmetry of pupillodilation. Eight patient (53%) with Horner yndrome demontrated dilation lag on the firt determination; 13 patient (87%) eventually demontrated it during four determination.
Concluion
Pupillary dilation lag i intermittently preent in mot patient with Horner yndrome. Repeated obervation improve the detection rate of dilation lag, a confirmatory ign of an oculoympathetic deficit. It abence doe not rule out Horner yndrome.
