Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe the clinical characteritic of patient with optic neuropathy complicating multifocal choroiditi and panuveiti (MFCPU).
Deign
Retropective cae erie.
Method
Eight patient (11 eye) with MFCPU and optic neuropathy from a ingle center were reviewed and clinical outcome decribed.
Reult
The median age of patient wa 45 year; ix patient were women and even were Caucaian. In the ix patient with available follow-up, the optic neuropathy wa corticoteroid-reponive, but required corticoteroid treatment to prevent recurrence of optic nerve inflammation and ubequent viion lo. Five patient required immunouppreive drug therapy during their treatment coure. No patient had recurrence of optic neuropathy while receiving immunouppreive drug therapy. Viual acuity improved or tabilized with treatment in nine of 11 affected eye.
Concluion
Optic neuropathy i an uncommon complication of MFCPU that may reult in ubtantial viual morbidity. Immunouppreive drug therapy may prevent recurrence of optic neuropathy and ubequent viion lo.
