Primary Implant Placement With Eviceration in Patient With Endophthalmiti

Purpoe We report the reult of 25 patient with endophthalmiti treated with eviceration with and without cornea preervation and primary orbital implant. Deign Retropective obervational cae erie. Method The record of 25 conecutive patient who underwent eviceration for endophthalmiti between June 1999 and November 2005 were reviewed. Age ranged between three and 90 year (mean 57.6 year). The caue of endophthalmiti and bacterial agent were documented. All the patient were treated with topical, intravitreal, and intravenou antibiotic for endophthalmiti before eviceration. Reult The follow-up period wa between two month and 79 month (mean 25.4 month). All patient had relief from their pain and were atified with their cometic appearance and motility. Implant expoure wa noted in three (12%) patient and pyogenic granuloma in one (4%) patient, which were treated uccefully. Eighteen of the patient had prothei fitting at leat eight week after operation. even patient elected to not have prothei. Concluion Unle the endophthalmiti i econdary to evere devatating trauma in which there i no clera left, primary orbital implant placement with eviceration in thee patient i an acceptable treatment.
