Tunneled cleral Inciion to Prevent Vitreal Reflux After Intravitreal Injection

Purpoe To invetigate the efficacy of tunneled cleral inciion compared with tandard traight cleral inciion to prevent vitreal reflux after intravitreal (IVT) injection. Deign Propective comparative controlled nonrandomized clinical tudy. Method Eighty-eight eye undergoing IVT-injection were allocated into four group to compare the vitreal reflux after injection of 0.1 ml of triamcinolone acetonide (TA) and Avatin uing a tunneled v traight injection technique. The amount of intraoperative drug reflux wa etimated by meauring the width of the ubconjunctival bleb. Reult The mean meaured reflux of volume wa tatitically le with the tunneled cleral inciion (1.13 mm tandard deviation [D] ± 1.16 for TA; 1.13 mm D ± 1.39 for Avatin) than in eye undergoing the traight cleral injection (3.00 mm D ± 1.77 for TA; 3.18 mm D ± 1.68 for Avatin) for both Avatin and TA IVT-injection group (P < .001). Concluion The tunneled cleral inciion promote tatitically ignificant le vitreal reflux for IVT drug injection.
