Abstract :
Purpoe
To determine whether intraocular preure (IOP) influence retinal vacular caliber in young children, in order to provide a better undertanding of it phyiological determinant.
Deign
Cro-ectional tudy.
Method
Three hundred and eighty-ix Chinee children even to nine year of age participated in the ingapore Cohort tudy of the Rik factor for Myopia (CORM). IOP wa meaured by noncontact tonometry. Retinal vacular caliber were meaured from retinal photograph uing a computer-baed program following tandardized protocol.
Reult
After adjuting for age, gender, body ma index, corneal thickne, pherical equivalent refraction, axial length, and birth weight, mean retinal arteriolar and venular caliber were imilar acro the ditribution of IOP (arteriolar caliber of 155.2 μm, 155.6 μm, 153.8 μm, 154.2 μm, P value for trend, 0.45; and venular caliber of 225.7 μm, 220.6 μm, 224.5 μm, 222.7 μm, P value for trend, 0.53; comparing increaing quartile of IOP).
Concluion
Our tudy provide no evidence that IOP influence retinal vacular caliber in healthy young children.
