Abstract :
Purpoe
To preent long-term outcome of Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation for uveitic glaucoma.
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
Retropective chart review of 60 patient (60 eye) with uveitic glaucoma who underwent Ahmed valve implantation over a four-year period at a tertiary uveiti referral center. ucce definition 1 included patient with an intraocular preure (IOP) between 5 and 21 mm Hg, reduced by 25% from that before implantation. ucce definition 2 (qualified ucce) excluded thoe patient in whom eriou complication occurred.
Reult
Mean follow-up time wa 30 month (range, ix to 87 month; four-year reult relate to a cohort of 15 patient). ucce rate were 77% and 50% and qualified ucce rate were 57% and 39% at one and four year, repectively. At four year, 74% of the patient required glaucoma medication to maintain IOP control. The overall complication rate wa 12%/peron-year. The rate of viual acuity lo wa 4%/peron-year; that wa mot commonly attributed to corneal complication that were more likely to occur in patient with preoperative corneal dieae (P = .01, Fiher exact tet).
Concluion
Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation i a afe yet moderately ucceful procedure for uveitic glaucoma. Long-term ucce rate are enhanced with the ue of glaucoma medication, and corneal complication are the mot common of all potential eriou complication.
