Abstract :
Purpoe
To analyze cae with pottraumatic lenticular abce and tudy the etiology, clinical preentation, management, and outcome.
Deign
Retropective cae erie.
Method
eventeen eye of 17 patient with traumatic lenticular abcee were managed with extracapular cataract extraction after apirating the abce.
Reult
The mean age of the patient wa 40.3 year, and male contituted 82%. The mean time to preentation after injury wa 14.35 day (range, one to 60 day), and the patient had a mean follow-up of 125.94 day (range, 21 to 300 day). Culture of the lenticular abce revealed bacterial growth in eight cae (47%) and fungi in four cae (23.5%). In five (29.4%) cae, culture wa negative. taphylococcu epidermidi grew in even cae (41%). Thirteen eye (77%) had bet-corrected viual acuity better than 20/120.
Concluion
urgical removal of the abce, with ytemic and local antimicrobial treatment i effective in cae of pottraumatic intralenticular abce.
