Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the occurrence of ocular involvement in the etting of pemphigu and dicu it relationhip with dieae activity and prognotic ignificance.
Deign
Retropective cae report.
Method
Five patient, aged 38 to 65 year, diagnoed with pemphigu according to clinical, hitopathologic, and immunopathologic criteria (n = 4 pemphigu vulgari; n = 1 uperficial pemphigu) developed ocular ymptom and ign conitent with the dieae, ranging from mild conjunctiviti to bliter and prominent eroion of the bulbar/palpebral conjunctiva or at the eyelid margin.
Reult
Ocular involvement in our erie motly followed kin dieae or repreented the tigmata of quiecent localized pemphigu. One of five patient had fatal outcome from myocardial infarction, wherea in the remaining cae ignificant improvement wa achieved with oral predniolone.
Concluion
Ocular pemphigu i probably underdiagnoed and it frequency appear underetimated. It doe not eem to correlate with dieae everity, but may perit chronically after healing of cutaneou leion.
