The Relationhip Between Anterior Chamber Depth and the Preence of Diabete in the Tanjong Pagar urvey

Purpoe To examine the relationhip of diabete with anterior chamber depth, axial length, and refraction. Deign Population-baed cro-ectional tudy. Method Thi analyi included 943 ingapore Chinee ubject age 40 to 81 year from the Tanjong Pagar urvey. Diabete wa determined by elf-report. A-mode ultraound wa ued to meaure axial dimenion. Refraction wa performed with an autorefractor and refined ubjectively. Reult There were 140 (11.4%) participant with diabete. After controlling for age and gender, participant with diabete had hallower anterior chamber (2.78 v 2.91 mm, P = .004) and thicker lene (4.88 v 4.75 mm, P = .003), but imilar pherical equivalent refraction (–0.38 v –0.47 diopter [D], P = .73), axial length (23.09 v 23.19 mm, P = .40), and vitreou chamber depth (15.52 v 15.59 mm, P = .53). Concluion In the ingapore Chinee population, peron with diabete have hallower anterior chamber and thicker lene than thoe without diabete. Diabete may be a rik factor for angle cloure glaucoma (ACG).
