Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare the viual performance of patient with bilateral v combination Crytalen, ReZoom, and ReTOR intraocular len (IOL) implant.
Deign
Propective, nonrandomized tudy.
Method
Forty-nine patient were implanted with bilateral Crytalen (Eyeonic, Alio Viejo, California, UA), ReTOR (Alcon Laboratorie, Fort Worth, Texa, UA), and ReZoom (American Medical Optic, anta Clara, California, UA) or combined Crytalen and ReTOR or Crytalen and ReZoom IOL after phacoemulification. Monocular and binocular teting four to ix month after urgery included uncorrected and bet-pectacle corrected viual acuity at ditance, intermediate, and near viion; meopic contrat enitivity function with and without glare; and quality-of-life and viion urvey ix month after urgery.
Reult
Monocular teting howed that eye with Crytalen accommodating IOL had tatitically better bet-pectacle corrected ditance, uncorrected and ditance-corrected intermediate, and bet-corrected near viion. Eye with the ReTOR multifocal IOL had better uncorrected near viion, required the lowet reading add, and had the lowet uncorrected and ditance-corrected intermediate viion. Monocular meopic contrat enitivity with and without glare wa better with the Crytalen IOL v either multifocal IOL at pecific patial frequencie. The binocular ubjective quality of viion and quality of life quetionnaire were favorable for the bilateral Crytalen group.
Concluion
Any combination of Crytalen in one or both eye wa better for intermediate viion. Any combination of ReTOR in one or both eye wa better for near viion. The Crytalen and ReTOR combination had better mean intermediate and near viion overall. A multifocal IOL in one or both eye wa aociated with lower contrat enitivity and more ubjective report of photic phenomena. The accommodating and multifocal IOL combination elicited le night glare ymptom than in patient with either bilateral multifocal IOL, but more than with bilateral Crytalen implantation.
