Abstract
Purpoe
To evaluate the effect of patient age on intraocular preure (IOP) repone after intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA).
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
A total of 164 outpatient (164 eye) aged 21 to 80 year (mean, 56.8 year), preenting with exudative age-related maculopathy (51) or macular edema of variou etiologie (113), received IVTA (4 mg/0.1 ml). The primary outcome meaure wa IOP elevation >21 mm Hg. Patient were re-evaluated at one week, and one, three, and ix month.
Reult
The mean baeline IOP wa 15.07 mm Hg; the mean rie wa 6.6 mm Hg. IOP >21 mm Hg wa oberved in 42 (25.6%) patient. In the age group ≤45 year, IOP rie occurred in 45% (14/31) patient, compared with 21% (28/133) of older patient (P = .006). The group were imilar in baeline IOP, IOP rie, mean time-lag to maximum IOP, and repone to treatment.
Concluion
IVTA caued more frequent IOP elevation in younger patient; other apect of IOP repone and it treatment were imilar to older patient.
