Abstract :
Purpoe To determine a poible correlation pecifically between hemoglobin A1C (HgbA1C) level and the preence and everity of retinopathy during diabetic eye creening. Deign Retropective medical record review of all new patient examined in a Veteran Affair Medical Center (VAMC) diabetic creening clinic in 2005. Method ix hundred and even new patient were included in the tudy. Demographic data, HgbA1C level, and grade of diabetic retinopathy were collected. The data analyi wa performed via regreion and analyi of variance (ANOVA). Reult Among the 607 cae, no correlation between everity of retinopathy and HgbA1C level wa found. A very mall tatitical difference of HgA1C level exited between group with and without retinopathy. Concluion HgbA1C level appeared to have little predictive value for preence/everity of retinopathy at initial creening.
