Abstract :
Purpoe To develop and validate a quetionnaire that meaure health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children with vernal keratoconjunctiviti (VKC). Deign Propective, obervational cae erie. Method An initial lit of 42 item wa developed and adminitered to 30 children with active VKC (ix girl and 24 boy; mean age, nine ± two year). The 30 mot ignificant item were elected and converted into quetion on a three-tep cale for validation in 41 children with active VKC (eight girl and 33 boy; mean age, 9.5 ± 2.1 year). Twenty-two children alo completed the generic KINDL quetionnaire. Clinical ign were evaluated and cored and total ign core (T) were calculated. Validation wa performed by factorial analyi and Pearon correlation. Internal conitency wa computed by the Chronbach α on the extracted factor. Reult Factorial analyi extracted two factor with good internal conitency: ymptom (12 item; α = 0.89) and daily activitie (four item; α = 0.77). Correlation of Quality of Life in Children with Vernal Keratoconjunctiviti (QUICK) core to KINDL core were in the expected direction. Mot patient reported itching (93%), burning (90%), redne (90%), the need to ue eye drop (90%), tearing (83%), and photophobia (80%). The children’ greatet concern were limitation on going to the pool (71%), playing port (58%), and meeting friend (58%). QUICK ymptom core were correlated ignificantly to conjunctival hyperemia (P < .001), ecretion (P = .042), chemoi (P = .012), uperficial punctate keratopathy (P < .001), and T (P = .010). Concluion The QUICK quetionnaire i a new, imple intrument to meaure HRQoL in children with evere allergic conjunctiviti. Thi tet i effective for the global evaluation of the impact of VKC on children’ daily live.
