Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare two method of meauring central cornea thickne (CCT) in eye that have undergone laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK).
Deign
Propective clinical trial.
Method
The corneal thickne from 104 eye of 53 conecutive patient undergoing the one-year follow-up after LAIK wa meaured with both the Pentacam (Oculu, Inc, Wetzlar, Germany) and ultraonic pachymetry. All patient were examined at one clinical etting, where firt Pentacam imaging wa performed by one technician and then ultraound pachymetry wa performed by a maked econd technician. The reult were compared.
Reult
The average age of the patient population wa 38 year (range, 22 to 56 year) of thoe who underwent the one-year follow-up examination an average of 406 day (range, 264 to 579 day) after LAIK. The mean CCT meaurement wa 506 ± 29.5 μm (range, 454 to 574 μm) with the Pentacam topographer and 505 ± 31.7 μm (range, 433 to 576 μm) with ultraound pachymetry. The average difference (Pentacam minu ultraound) wa 1.4 ± 10.4 μm (range, −21.8 to 23.4 μm).
Concluion
The Pentacam’ CCT meaurement and that of ultraound pachymetry how good correlation. Pentacam pachymetry may be ubtituted for ultraound in the pot-LAIK patient.
