Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the reult obtained with the treatment for interface epithelial ingrowth after laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK) with neodymium:yytrium–aluminum–garnet (Nd:YAG) laer. Deign Retropective, interventional, noncomparative, conecutive cae erie. Method Thirty eye were treated with Nd:YAG laer for clinically ignificant epithelial ingrowth developed after LAIK. Each impact produced an exploion with evaporation of epithelial cell giving rie to bubble. The mean intenity of the pot wa 0.6 mJ, and they were variable in quantity depending on the ize of the epithelial ingrowth area. The patient were followed up for two year. Reult The opacitie caued by the epithelial ingrowth diappeared in 80% of the cae with the Nd:YAG laer treatment. In 40% of the cae, two or more eion of Nd:YAG laer treatment were neceary to eliminate the epithelial ingrowth area entirely. In 60% of the cae, viual acuity improved by one or more line of viion and the corneal topography wa more regular. After the treatment, ymptom like glare and halo improved in all cae. The intenity of the laer wa adjuted in each cae and wa focued perfectly on the epithelial ingrowth area. There were no complication. Concluion Nd:YAG laer, in our experience, i an eay and effective technique for the treatment of epithelial ingrowth after LAIK.
