Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate patient with ocular urface quamou neoplaia (ON) on treatment with topical mitomycin C (MMC) with regard to change in corneal thickne and endothelial count.
Deign
Propective, nonrandomized, interventional erie.
Method
In thi propective evaluation, 25 patient with ON with different clock hour of involvement (range, one to eight), age varying from 19 to 76 year, were treated with topical MMC 0.04% in a cyclic manner. Preoperative corneal thickne meaurement and endothelial cell denity were obtained, and the tet were repeated after one, three, and ix month of complete reolution. The fellow eye of the ame patient erved a control.
Reult
Mean ± tandard deviation (D) pachymetry and endothelial cell count before and after intillation were 504.48 ± 5.45 μm and 2325.76 ± 192.52 cell/mm2 and 503.52 ± 5.75 μm and 2297.60 ± 192.08 cell/mm2, repectively, uggeting no ignificant difference in the above two parameter. imilarly, in the fellow control eye, mean ± D pachymetry and endothelial cell count before and after intillation were 502.80 ± 4.34 μm and 2326.72 ± 191.93 cell/mm2 and 504.64 ± 5.19 μm and 2313.60 ± 192.03 cell/mm2, repectively.
Concluion
Topical 0.04% MMC drop do not ignificantly affect the corneal endothelium. However, it judiciou ue and long-term follow-up are mandatory.
