Abstract
Purpoe
To invetigate meopic contrat enitivity and night driving ability in eye undergoing overnight orthokeratology, and to analyze the relationhip among meopic contrat enitivity, ocular higher-order aberration, and myopic correction.
Deign
Propective, noncomparative, conecutive cae erie.
Method
In 44 eye of 22 ubject (mean age ± tandard deviation [D], 24.0 ± 3.2 year) with orthokeratology, ocular aberration and meopic contrat enitivity were determined before and three month after commencement of the procedure. Mean pherical equivalent refraction ± D wa −2.34 ± 0.99 diopter at baeline. Meopic contrat enitivity with and without glare wa aeed uing the Meotet II (Oculu, Wetzlar, Germany).
Reult
Orthokeratology ignificantly reduced the log meopic contrat enitivity from 0.25 ± 0.08 to 0.08 ± 0.10 without glare (P < .0001, Wilcoxon) and from 0.21 ± 0.11 to 0.07 ± 0.10 with glare (P < .0001). The proportion of eye that fulfilled the German tandard recommendation level for night driving wa 36%. The induced change in log meopic contrat enitivity howed ignificant negative correlation with the change in third-order (r = −0.490, P = .0013 without glare; r = −0.362, P = .0177 with glare; pearman rank correlation coefficient) and fourth-order root mean quare (r = −0.586, P = .0001 and r = −0.306, P = .0450, repectively). Furthermore, ignificant correlation wa found between the amount of myopic correction and the induced change in log meopic contrat enitivity (r = −0.442, P = .0038 without glare; r = −0.464, P = .0024 with glare). The induced change in higher-order aberration ignificantly correlated with the amount of myopic correction (P < .0001, Pearon correlation coefficient).
Concluion
Meopic contrat enitivity after overnight orthokeratology i deteriorated ignificantly a ocular higher-order aberration increae, and thee change depend on the amount of myopic correction.
