Abstract
Purpoe
To determine the influence of the extent and duration of peritent ubmacular fluid on final viual outcome after ucceful cleral buckle urgery for acute macula-off rhegmatogenou retinal detachment (RD).
Deign
Propective obervational cae erie.
Method
Forty-four conecutive patient (44 eye) who underwent ucceful cleral buckle urgery for macula-off rhegmatogenou RD were enrolled patient underwent thorough ophthalmologic tet including bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) aement and optical coherence tomography (OCT) at one, three, ix, nine, and 12 month potoperatively, until at leat ix month after the diappearance of ubretinal fluid (RF). Patient with peritent ubmacular fluid one month after urgery were aigned to group A and thoe without ubmacular fluid, to group B. In group A, patient whoe ubmacular fluid diappeared before ix month were aigned to group A1; the other, to group A2. The natural coure of peritent RF and aociation between the extent and duration of RF and potoperative BCVA were invetigated.
Reult
Twenty-three eye (52.3%) were in group A and 21 eye (47.7%) in group B. Twelve eye (52.2%) were in group A1 and 11 eye (47.8%) in group A2. RF diappeared within 12 month after urgery without reoperation in all patient. No ignificant difference in final viual acuity (VA) were found among group A, B, A1, and A2. Final VA wa not found to be aociated with RF extent or duration.
Concluion
The preence and extent of ubmacular fluid after ucceful cleral buckle urgery for acute macula-off rhegmatogenou RD did not influence final VA or anatomic attachment
