Abstract :
Purpoe To examine the effect of two or three neodymium:yttrium–aluminum–garnet (Nd:YAG) laer relaxing inciion made in the anterior capular rim on prevention of anterior capule contraction after cataract urgery. Deign Randomized clinical trial. Method One hundred patient cheduled for bilateral cataract urgery were randomized to one of two group: two or three relaxing inciion in the left eye and no inciion in the right eye, and relaxing inciion in the right eye and no inciion in the left eye. The anterior capule opening area wa meaured uing cheimpflug photography immediately after capulotomy and at one, three, and ix month after capulotomy, and the percentage reduction wa calculated. The degree of intraocular len (IOL) decentration and tilt and of poterior capule opacification (PCO) alo were examined. Reult There wa no ignificant difference in the anterior capule opening area between fellow eye at baeline (P ≥ .1770). In patient who underwent two inciion, no ignificant difference wa found between fellow eye in the opening area (P ≥ .4098) or in the percentage of reduction (P ≥ .8730) throughout follow-up. In patient who underwent three inciion, the opening area in eye with capulotomy wa ignificantly greater than that in eye without capulotomy (P ≤ .0154), and the percentage reduction wa ignificantly maller in eye with capulotomy than in eye without capulotomy (P ≤ .0016). No ignificant difference were found in the IOL decentration and tilt, or in PCO. Concluion Three relaxing inciion made in the anterior capule decreae the anterior capule contraction, wherea two inciion do not.
