Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate femtoecond laer-aited corneal full-thickne trephination with orientation teeth and notche for penetrating keratoplaty (PKP).
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
Four eye of four patient aged 34 to 55 year underwent PKP uing a femtoecond laer ytem enabling corneal trephination with orientation teeth and notche. Patient were affected by advanced keratoconu (n = 2) or potinfectiou corneal car (n = 2). canning electron microcopy (EM) wa performed to evaluate the cut quality of donor and recipient cornea.
Reult
All procedure were completed without any complication. In all cae, the donor and the recipient cornea were cut with the ame ize of 8.0-mm diameter. A complete perforating cut wa achieved in all eye, and a correct intraoperative matching of teeth and notche wa obtained. EM of donor and recipient pecimen howed a full-thickne cut with mooth and regular hape of orientation teeth and notche.
Concluion
Orientation teeth and notche haped PKP uing the femtoecond laer technology i feaible and may offer further promiing approache toward cutomized trephination technique.
