Abstract :
Purpoe
To detect the prognotic factor aociated with initial reattachment after primary par plana vitrectomy (PPV) with ga tamponade for retinal detachment attributable to macular hole (MHRD).
Deign
Retropective, multicenter, interventional cae erie.
Method
Thi tudy included 49 eye of 48 patient with MHRD in high myopia (axial length more than 28.0 mm). All eye underwent PPV with ga tamponade. We retropectively reviewed the medical record and performed univariate analyi to detect the preence of any difference between eye with a ucceful initial reattachment and thoe that failed. We performed multivariate logitic regreion analyi to ae the influence of each preoperative factor on initial ucce.
Reult
ucce rate of initial reattachment wa 69%. Potoperative bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) of 34 eye with initial ucce wa ignificantly better than thoe of 15 eye with initial failure (P < .05); preoperative BCVA wa not ignificantly different (P = .43). The axial length of eye with initial ucce (29.26 ± 0.94 mm) wa horter than that of eye with initial failure (30.04 ± 1.49 mm) with borderline ignificance (P = .049). There were no ignificant difference noted for other factor uch a ue of ILM peeling (P = .43) or type of tamponade ga (P = .99). Multiple logitic regreion analyi uing preoperative factor indicated that only axial length wa ignificantly aociated with initial ucce (odd ratio, 0.49; 95% confidence interval, 0.26 to 0.93; P < .05).
Concluion
Initial reattachment i important for viual prognoi, and axial length i a prognotic factor for initial reattachment after PPV with ga tamponade for MHRD in high myopia.
