Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the viion-related quality of life (VR-QOL) in patient with pituitary adenoma.
Deign
Propective, conecutive, comparative cae erie.
Method
A VR-QOL quetionnaire wa ditributed to 154 patient with pituitary adenoma and 81 normal control. Thee were preurgical patient. VR-QOL wa meaured uing the 25-Item National Eye Intitute Viual Function Quetionnaire (VFQ-25). The influence of variou factor on VFQ-25 core wa aeed, including age, logarithm of the minimum angle of reolution bet-corrected viual acuity (logMAR BCVA), critical flicker fuion frequency, Humphrey tatic perimetry core, and the duration of ocular ymptom.
Reult
The VFQ-25 compoite core wa ignificantly lower in patient with pituitary adenoma than in the normal control (P < .001), with ignificant difference in all ubcale except for color viion. The VFQ-25 compoite core in patient with pituitary adenoma wa ignificantly correlated with logMAR BCVA, mean deviation (MD) and corrected pattern tandard deviation (CPD) of Humphrey perimetry, critical flicker fuion frequency, and the duration of ocular ymptom. tepwie multiple regreion analyi revealed that MD core in the better-eeing eye (r = 0.69; P < .001) and the duration of ocular ymptom aociated with pituitary adenoma (r = −0.36; P < .001) were ignificantly related to the VFQ-25 compoite core.
Concluion
The VR-QOL i ignificantly deteriorated in patient with pituitary adenoma. The degree of viual field defect in the better-eeing eye and duration of ocular ymptom were found to be ignificantly related to the decline of VR-QOL in thee patient.
