Purpoe To evaluate the viual prognoi in eye with branch retinal artery occluion (BRAO). Deign Retropective, obervational, conecutive cae erie. Method Retropective medical record review of 52 conecutive eye of 52 patient with BRAO een at two vitreoretinal practice in Birmingham, Alabama. Only eye with decreaed central macular perfuion on fluorecein angiography (FA) were included. Eye with anterior egment or optic nerve dieae, lack of retinal whitening or a delay in arterial filling on FA, central retinal artery occluion, and cilioretinal artery occluion were excluded. The main outcome meaure wa preenting bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) and it relationhip to final BCVA. Reult On preentation, 54% of eye with BRAO had BCVA of 20/40 or better. At the mean 14-month viit, 60% of all eye had viual acuity (VA) of 20/40 or better. VA of 20/40 or better were retained by 89% of eye with baeline BCVA of 20/40 or better. Only 14% of eye with 20/100 or wore BCVA improved to 20/40 or better. Neither viible emboli (P ≥ .244) nor the region of macular involvement (P = .142) were ignificant with repect to viual improvement. Concluion Viual prognoi after BRAO eem to be correlated to preenting VA. Eye with initial VA of 20/40 or better uually remained at 20/40 or better. Individual with poor VA of 20/100 or wore generally did not how the ignificant improvement reported in previou tudie.
