Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe microcopic change in the tructure of human clera immediately after enucleation (negative control group) and to compare them after being tored for three month in four different media: pure glycerin, abolute alcohol, benzalkonium chloride diluted in abolute alcohol (1:5000), and benzalkonium chloride diluted in balanced alt olution (1:5000). The comparion took into conideration their final tate of conervation.
Deign
Experimental tudy, laboratory invetigation.
Method
Optical microcopy wa ued to tudy the pecimen after they had been in torage for one, two, and three month. The cleral fragment were prepared in thin plate, dyed, and then ubmitted to hitologic analyi by two maked pecialit. Unpreerved cleral fragment obtained right after enucleation were aeed and erved a negative control.
Reult
The collagen fiber of clera tored in glycerin preented with a more regular pattern, cloer in appearance to the negative control group. clera tored in the other three media preented contorted collagen fiber.
Concluion
Our finding ugget that glycerin i cloe to being the ideal torage medium for clera, becaue it maintain the tructural characteritic of the collagen fiber. Reearch i ongoing to determine how to increae the bactericidal and antiviral propertie of glycerin torage.
