  • Abstract
    Purpoe Vernal keratoconjunctiviti (VKC) and atopic keratoconjunctiviti (AKC) reult from genetic and environmental factor. We preent patient who had no hitory of atopic diorder before bone marrow tranplantation (BMT) and who eem to have acquired VKC or AKC from their donor, who had atopic diorder. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method The patient in thi tudy were part of a cohort of patient who had undergone allogeneic hemapoietic tem cell tranplantation (HCT) from January 1997 through December 2007. Of 621 HCT recipient, four recipient who were free of allergic diorder acquired VKC or AKC from their afflicted donor after HCT. Each patient underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, determination of the total erum immunoglobulin (Ig) E, and conjunctival craping. Reult Four (0.64%) of 621 patient who had undergone HCT acquired VKC or AKC after BMT. The donor had VKC or atopic dermatiti. In addition, in two of thee four patient, athma developed. One patient had elevated total erum IgE. Conjunctival craping of all four patient revealed the preence of eoinophil. One patient had concurrent graft-veru-hot dieae. Concluion VKC and AKC are ytemic allergic diorder characterized by local ocular manifetation. Thi report ugget the poibility of the acquiition of VKC or AKC after BMT by adoptive tranfer.
