  • Abstract
Purpoe To report on the two-year viual outcome of indocyanine green angiography-guided photodynamic therapy (PDT) for polypoidal choroidal vaculopathy (PCV) patient. Deign Retropective cae tudy. Method A retropective analyi that examined the clinical and angiographic data related to 41 eye of 38 PCV patient (25 male, 13 female; average age ± tandard deviation [D], 72.9 ± 7.4 year) with follow-up period of 24 month or more. Reult The average number of PDT treatment wa 1.65. After the 12-month follow-up, 12 eye required retreatment. Although the mean viual acuity (VA) ± D before PDT (0.55 ± 0.38 logarithm of the minimum angle of reolution unit) improved to 0.46 ± 0.41 at 12 month after the initial PDT, at 24 month, it declined ignificantly to 0.59 ± 0.44 (P = .0018). Although only even of 41 eye exhibited VA deterioration at the 12-month follow-up examination, a decreaed VA wa noted in 18 eye during the period tarting from the 12-month follow-up until the final examination. The cae were bilateral in 11 (61.1%) of the 18 eye. At the final examination, the mean VA of the bilateral cae but not the unilateral cae wa ignificantly lower than that oberved for the initial VA. Concluion PDT i an effective treatment againt PCV over the hort-term for both unilateral and bilateral cae. However, the VA prognoi may not the ame after 12 month, epecially for thoe PCV patient who have exudative age-related macular degeneration in contralateral eye.
