Anatomic Relationhip between Dic Hemorrhage and Parapapillary Atrophy Original Reearch Article

Purpoe Parapapillary atrophy (PPA) and dic hemorrhage (DH) are aociated with glaucoma. We ought to determine whether they are anatomically related. Deign Retropective tudy. Method All digital optic nerve tereophotograph obtained over a one-year period were creened for the preence of DH. Only patient with DH were included. The location of the greatet β zone PPA width a defined by the radial ditance between the cleral rim and the outer border of the β zone wa compared in each patient. The clock hour location of the DH wa determined. Baeline central corneal thickne, intraocular preure, vertical cup-to-dic ratio, and viual field indice were obtained. Reult Photograph from 1,559 glaucoma patient were evaluated and 46 eye with unilateral DH were identified; 42 (91.3%) had β zone PPA and 38 eye had aymmetric PPA width. DH occurred more frequently in the eye with the greater PPA width (29/38 eye [76.3%]; κ = 0.611; P < .001). The DH fell on the point of greatet PPA width in 10 (23.9%) of 42 eye (P < .05, Fiher exact tet) and within two clock hour of the greatet PPA width in 31 (73.8%) of 42 eye (P < .001, Chi-quare tet). Logitic regreion analyi determined that greater PPA width (odd ratio, 17.16; 95% confidence interval, 5.34 to 55.12; P < .001) wa the only ocular characteritic to predict the laterality of the DH. Concluion DH tend to occur in the eye with the greatet PPA width and uually are found within the region of it greatet width.
