Abstract
Many authors have recommended the McRobertsʹ maneuver as the initial technique in the management of shoulder dystocia. There have been, however, no reported adverse maternal outcomes associated with this technique. We report a case of symphyseal separation and transient femoral neuropathy associated with the McRobertsʹ maneuver. An overly exaggerated lithotomy position and thigh abduction stretches the articular surfaces of the symphysis pubis and places increased pressure on the femoral nerve by the overlying inguinal ligament.
