MMSA: Metamodel Multimedia Software Architecture

T he hetero geneit ycommunication m echanisms of the components ( GPRS, WIFI, Bluetooth, ZigBee, e tc.), t r ansmission speed, as well as the var iet yof the m edia (sound, v i deo, text, a nd image) the y manage have a s t rong influence on t he interop er abilit y. That re quires themanagement of the a daptation to a n a bst r act l e vel in order to avoid ad hoc n onreusable, a nd/or gener a lizable s olutions. In t hispaper we propose a m etamodel for architectures w ith h eterogeneous mu ltimedia components. It enables the descr iption of thesoftware architectures as a collection of components manipulating var i ous t y p es and for mats of data, and inter acting betweenthem v ia s pecific adaptation connectors.
