Photoclinic Diagnosis: Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis Syndrome

A12-year-old girl from Isfahan was admitted to the Mofid Children.s Hospital, Tehran, because of fever, pharyngitis, abdominal pain, and splenomegaly. She had a past history of splenomegaly since early childhood, the work-up for which was normal. Her parents were first cousin, and had a son who died of fever and organomegaly when he was three years old. The exact diagnosis, however, was not made.
