Abstract :
Two Field experiments were carried out during 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 growth seasons to investigate the effect of four organic manure (OM) sources: El-Obor compost (Markets refuse), Nile compost (FYM), town refuse (TR) and FYM of El-Sheikh Zwaied Experimental Farm, in addition to NPK as control treatment on growth, yield and its components, as well as minerals content of Chinese garlic plants grown on sandy soil of El-Sheikh Zwaied Research Station of Desert Research Center at North Sinai. The rates of (OM) application were calculated as N units/ fed. (80, 100 and 120 kg.). The results revealed that, generally, OM application enhanced plant growth, improved yield and its components, in addition to minerals content. Also, with increasing the rate of OM application, all growth and yield characters were improved. (FYM) of El-Sheikh Zwaied, followed by Nile compost exhibited the highest growth parameters as well as, yield and its components, except dry weight and dry matter (%) of bulb, as compared with control treatment (NPK). Also, the application sources of fertilizers at the highest rate (120 kg. N/fed.) gave the highest growth parameters, yield and its components, as well as minerals content than the medium and the lower rates. Only sodium and chloride content which decreased with increasing rate of OM application.
