Abstract :
Heritability and gene action of yield and yield components were estimated in a Golia x Cumhuriyet 75 cross using generation mean analysis. The additive-dominance model was valid for spike length, number of spikelets per spike, thousand kernel weight, fertile tiller number, and grain yield. On the other hand, the six-parameter model was fitted for explaining genetic variation for number of kernels per spike, number of kernels per spikelet, and single spike yield. Heritability estimates and genetic advances were low for number of kernels per spike, thousand kernel weight and grain yield; medium for spike length, number of kernels per spikelet; high for number of spikelet per spike, spike yield and fertile tiller number. It could be possible that selection in advanced generations might be effective for number of spikelets per spike, number of kernels per spike, number of kernels per spikelet, single spike yield, thousand kernel weight, fertile tiller number, grain yield.
