Abstract :
An experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 2003 at College of Agriculture, Vellayani to evaluate the economics of different planting methods in rice. The experiment was carried out in split plot design with three methods of planting viz. throwing seedlings at random, machine transplanting by rice transplanter and line transplanting in main plots and with and without AMF(Arbuscular Mycorrhizhal Fungi) inoculation in sub plots. Seedling throwing and machine transplanting recorded higher benefit :cost ratios of 2.85 and 2.82 respectively and the lowest benefit :cost ratio was recorded by line transplanting. Seedling throwing recorded maximum gross return and net return. Lowest gross return was registered in machine planting and lowest net return was observed in line transplanting. AMF inoculated plants registered higher benefit :cost ratio, gross return and net return.
