Abstract :
This paper present insight into how used oil sorption processes using recycled rubber from scrap tyres can be model. Kinetic model based on linear driving force (LDF) is developed to optimize used oil absorption operating conditions by accurately predicting its performance and behavior. The model consist of three stages: First, experimental, which involves determination of input data for calculations that is, concentration of used oil absorbed, equilibrium used oil absorbed, rubber particle sizes and absorption temperatures. Second, development of mathematical model, and third, computation using multiple regression analysis. The experimentally obtained data and the calculated data from model predictions were in good agreement; this shows that the LDF kinetic model has excellent predictive capacity under different absorption operating conditions; hence satisfactory results were obtained from simulation. The kinetics of oil absorption is a first order absorption kinetics. This first order linear driving force (LDF) oil absorption kinetic model can be successfully used for analysis and design of oil sorption processes because it is simple, analytical, and physically consistent.
