Abstract
Newcastle disease virus (NDV), an avian paramyxovirus, induces apoptosis in a variety of human malignant cells. A Multiplex Gene Expression Kit was used to measure the relative expression of 21 genes at the mRNA level in MCF-7 cells infected with a velogenic NDV strain AF2240. The results showed that virus changed the expression level of most of the genes involved in tumor progression, cell cycle regulation, cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, cancer suppression, hormone response and DNA damage in the MCF-7 cells as measured by RT-PCR and capillary electrophoresis.
