Abstract :
In order to evaluate of yield and seed quality of rapeseed cultivars in different plant density, an experiment was conducted as spilt plot in a randomized complete block design with three replications in 2008-2009 in Mehran. Main plots were four canola cultivars viz, Hyola 401, Hyola 308, Zarfam and Sarigol sub plots consisted of three plant densities (40, 60 and 80 plants/m2). The results showed that the differences between cultivars were significant at 1% probability level in all traits expect number of seeds per pod, biological yield and plant height. Hyola 401 had the highest seed yield (3333.2 kg.ha-1), number of pods per plant (89.7 pods), number of branches per plant (19.6 branches), oil content (44.03%) and oil yield (1467.1 kg.ha-1). All traits were affected at 1% probability level by plant density. Segregation of plant density to linear and quadratic functions showed that seed yield, harvest index, biological yield, protein content, oil content and oil yield follow quadratic function. Other traits conformed from linear function. 60 plant/m2 had the highest seed yield (2920.8 kg.ha-1), number of pod per plant (20.05 seed), 1000-seed weight (3.6 g), harvest index (31.1 %) and oil yield (1408.1 kg.ha-1) in compared to other plant density. Interaction effect of cultivar × plant density was affected all traits expect number of pod per plant and biological yield. The highest obtained seed yield (3636.6 kg.ha-1) and oil yield (1603.4 kg.ha-1) from Hyola 401 hybrid and 60 plant/m2 and the lowest seed yield (2720.6 kg.ha-1) and oil yield (1167.7 kg.ha-1) from Zarfam cultivar and 40 plant/m2.
