Abstract :
A study was carried out to investigate the micromorphological properties and classification of soils in Fereydoonshahr area in the Isfahan province (center of Iran) at Zagros Mountain. One way to study the soil is soil genesis and classification studies. The xeric moisture regime is the typical moisture regime in area of Mediterranean climates. In order to do this research, a total of 5 profiles in five slope positions (summit, shoulder, backslope, footslope and toeslope) were studied. Soil colors were defined using a Munsell soil color charts. Electrical conductivity (EC), soil reaction (pH), organic matter (OM) and calcium carbonate were measured. Several samples have got from some of profiles for micromorphological analysis. The evidences provided by this experiment indicated that classifications of soils were Lithic Xerorthents (in SU position), Typical Haploxerepts (in Sh position) and Calcic Haploxeralfs (in BS, FS and TS positions). Micromorphological properties showed that there were clay coatings (clay film) and calcite infillings in selected soil samples.
