An Emotion Network: Enabling Emotion Sharing Through Social Networking

This paper presents a framework for an emotional social network. This network consists of a group of interconnected distributed devices and software that reports the emotional state of its user to a larger social group. The social group is then given the opportunity to respond. Both the emotional states and responses are stored by the system, and can be played back a later time. The aim of this system is to provide a tool to enhance the ability for humans to communicate and emote with each other. This system can provide valuable insight into human emotive behaviour and emotional communication in social groups by supporting emotional communication and empathetic response through technology.
