Abstract :
ABSTARCT: The present study aims at assessing the obstacles preventing the establishment of management information systems in sports committees in Isfahan province. The population of the study consisted of all presidents, deputies and the coaching bodies in Isfahan province. From among the population, a number of 120 people were selected as subjects including: 40 regular instructors, 40 deputies and 40 certified instructors all of whom had many years of experience and were at different age ranges. The method of this study is descriptive with a survey design. The instrument used to collect the data included a researcher-made questionnaire with 37 items categorized into four domains including: knowledge and technology, management, manpower, and economy. The reliability of the questionnaire, using Cronbach alpha formula, was estimated to be ?=0.89. In order to assess the obstacles preventing the establishment of management information system (MIS) in sports committees, the questionnaire items were designed on a 5-point Likert scale. Both descriptive statistics (including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (including univariate t-test, ANOVA, and scheffe test) were used to analyze the data. The results showed that usersʹ knowledge had more than moderate influence in the establishment of MIS. The economic and manpower factors had less than moderate influence but management factors had more than moderate influence in preventing the establishment of MIS. From among the three preventive factors, namely, management, manpower and economic factors, it is the management factor that plays a significant role.
