Abstract :
ABSTRACT: Innovation is an important source of growth and a key determinant of competitive advantage for many organizations. One of the most important factors facilitating and reinforcing the innovation ability in an organization is a convenient structure and a suitable formation designed to fulfill the ultimate goal. The purpose of this study was investigation relationship between organizational structure and staff’s innovation level of physical education offices in Khuzestan province. The methodology of the study was descriptive-correlative, and was conducted through the field method study. The sample population consisted of the personnel of the head department of physical education in Khuzestan province. The data were collected using Robbin’s organizational questionnaire and innovation questionnaire. Descriptive statistical method, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression method (entry and stepwise) were used to analyze the collected data. The result of the simple correlation analysis indicated the existence of a significantly negative relationship between the organizational structure and innovation level. Significantly negative correlations were also found between the innovation level and formalization and centralization components. However, no significant relationship was observed between the complexity component and innovation level. The results of the multiple regression analyses showed that 0.24 of innovation variance could be predicted by centralization. Regarding the findings, it is suggested a further consideration of the organizing styles, a decrease in the formalization level of the organizational structure, i.e. reduction of the number of unnecessary rules and regulations, and an increment of the organizational decentralization level.
